Nigerian social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has warned phone dealers against excessively increasing the prices of the newly released iPhone 18 series.
VeryDarkMan issued the warning in a video recorded at an Apple Store in China on Thursday, September 10, 2026, shortly after Apple unveiled its latest iPhone models.
He said he expected some Nigerian phone dealers to increase their prices significantly following the release of the new devices, warning that such increases could also affect the prices of older models, including the iPhone 17.
According to the social media critic, he had already placed an order for an iPhone 18 in China and expected it to arrive on September 18.
VeryDarkMan said he was prepared to bypass local vendors and assist Nigerians in purchasing the devices directly if dealers increased their prices beyond what he considered reasonable.
He acknowledged that some phone dealers could accuse him of attempting to disrupt their businesses but maintained that he would intervene if he believed consumers were being overcharged.
“I know where una wan carry this thing go,” he said, warning dealers that he would “spoil” the market if they excessively increased their prices.
He further said he would help interested Nigerians purchase the phones from China and bring them into Nigeria if local prices became too high.
The development has also revived VeryDarkMan’s previous public disputes with businessman Blord over the pricing of iPhone 17 devices in Nigeria.
VeryDarkMan’s latest comments have sparked reactions online, with some Nigerians supporting his call for more competitive pricing while others questioned the impact of his proposed direct-sales approach on local phone dealers.
