Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has sworn in 19 newly appointed Permanent Secretaries into the state civil service.
The swearing-in ceremony took place on Thursday following the approval of the appointments by the governor in August 2026. The appointments were made as part of efforts to strengthen the state’s civil service and improve administrative efficiency.
Governor Yahaya described the exercise as the largest single appointment of Permanent Secretaries in the history of Gombe State.
He charged the newly sworn-in officials to uphold integrity, professionalism, accountability and dedication in the discharge of their responsibilities.
The governor said their appointment placed greater responsibility on them to contribute to the effective implementation of government policies and programmes across the state.
He also urged them to work in the interest of the people and ensure that public resources and responsibilities entrusted to them were handled responsibly.
The 19 Permanent Secretaries are expected to provide administrative leadership across various ministries, departments and agencies of the state government.
The appointments come as part of the state government’s broader efforts to strengthen its public service and ensure effective coordination of government activities.
Governor Yahaya urged the new appointees to justify the confidence reposed in them by demonstrating competence, fairness and commitment to public service.
