US Files Drug, Terrorism Charges Against Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro Following Capture

On Saturday, the United States announced drug trafficking and terrorism charges against Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro after US forces captured him during a large-scale military operation in Venezuela.

President Donald Trump confirmed the development on Truth Social, stating, “The United States of America has successfully carried out a large-scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolás Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the country. This operation was done in conjunction with US law enforcement.”

Trump added that he would hold a news conference at 11:00 a.m. (1600 GMT) at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, where he is concluding a two-week Christmas and New Year break.
