Nigerian television host, Morayo Afolabi-Brown, has opened up about her struggles with depression and suicidal thoughts during her time as anchor of TVC’s flagship talk show, Your View.
In a candid interview with Chude Jideonwo, Brown revealed that she battled deep feelings of being “stuck” in her role, which eventually led to her resignation after 12 years.
“I was depressed. At a point, I was suicidal. I walked on the express, hoping a car would hit me. It was that bad,” she disclosed.
The broadcaster explained that although she had long considered leaving the programme, she only found clarity last year.
“It was when we [TVC] were ten years that I knew it was time [for me] to go to the next thing. I have been harbouring that thought for a while but I didn’t know how to go about it. But last year, I got that light-bulb moment,” she said.
Brown announced her resignation earlier this year, marking the end of an era on the popular morning talk show.
