Late American rapper and actor, Tupac Amaru Shakur, continues to leave an indelible mark on the world, even in death.

His crown gold ring, which he wore during his final public appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards in September 1996, recently fetched an astonishing $1 million at a New York auction, setting a new record.

Tupac’s godmother, Yaasmyn Fula, while providing the ring to the auction house, stated that the ring, which bears the Pac & Dada 1996 inscription on its side, was designed for him in New York City after his release from jail and his signing with Death Row Records.

The auction house said the ring, which is made of gold, rubies, and diamond crowns, became the most valuable hip-hop artefact ever sold, the New York Post reports.
Tupac was shot dead at age 25 on September 13, 1996, by an unidentified assailant in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas.
