US President Donald Trump has sparked reactions after making a suggestive remark about rapper Nicki Minaj’s backside during a rally in Port Huron, Michigan.
Trump made the comment on Sunday, October 25, when he appeared alongside the 43-year-old rapper at McMorran Place Arena, where they had travelled together aboard Air Force One.
Addressing the crowd, Trump said, “By the way, I looked at one hell of a beautiful ass before — Nicki Minaj. That’s hard to miss.”
He subsequently asked Minaj to stand up as the audience cheered, adding that he hoped she was not offended by his remark.
“I hope Nicki wasn’t insulted, but we love Nicki. She’s been with us for a long time,” the president said.
The comment came as Trump was discussing his earlier remarks about Republican Ohio Senator Jon Husted’s physique. Earlier in October, the president had spoken about examining Husted’s body after learning that the senator was a former college football player, drawing attention to his physique and athletic build.
Minaj, who has become a vocal supporter of Trump, also addressed the rally, expressing her continued support for the president and the Republican Party ahead of the US midterm elections.
The incident has drawn attention online, with the president’s unexpected comment becoming a talking point following the rally.
