Troops Foil Terrorist Attack on Adamawa Military Base, Recover Six AK-47 Rifles

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have repelled a coordinated attack by suspected Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists on a military base in Adamawa State, killing six insurgents and recovering arms and ammunition.

The attack targeted the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Garaha in Hong Local Government Area at about 9:07 p.m. on Monday, October 12, 2026.

The Acting Military Information Officer of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, October 13.

According to Goni, the attackers advanced on foot from the LAR axis in an attempt to overrun the military position. However, troops of Sector 4 responded with superior firepower and coordinated tactical operations, forcing the insurgents to retreat.

A subsequent search of the area led to the discovery of six terrorist corpses. Recovered items included one PKT machine gun, six AK-47 rifles, 11 AK-47 magazines, 67 rounds of ammunition for the machine gun, 157 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, 120 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and one 60mm mortar bomb.

Other items recovered included an Infinix Android phone, a Canon portable video recorder, three camelback water bags, a magazine carrier and assorted clothing.

The military spokesperson acknowledged that some soldiers sustained injuries during the encounter, adding that the wounded personnel were receiving medical attention while evacuation arrangements were underway.

He said troops had maintained heightened vigilance and continued search operations around the area to prevent further attacks and recover additional items of operational importance.

Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to intelligence-driven operations aimed at degrading insurgent capabilities, protecting vulnerable communities and restoring lasting peace and security across the North-East.
