Nigerian troops have averted a possible tragedy after discovering and neutralising explosives allegedly planted by terrorists along a road in Zamfara State.
The operation was carried out during a security patrol after troops detected suspicious objects believed to be improvised explosive devices (IEDs) positioned along the route.
The explosives were reportedly intended to target security personnel and other road users travelling through the area.

Following the discovery, the troops secured the location and successfully neutralised the devices, preventing a possible explosion and loss of lives.

The operation forms part of ongoing military efforts to tackle terrorism and other security threats in Zamfara and neighbouring states in Nigeria’s North-West region.
The military has continued to conduct patrols and clearance operations aimed at identifying and dismantling threats to public safety, while urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious objects or activities to security agencies.
