Troops of Sector 6 under Operation Enduring Peace have arrested two underage herders for allegedly grazing cattle on restricted land in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.

According to security sources, the troops responded to a complaint of illegal grazing activities around the Rim community at about 3:00 p.m. on June 21.

Upon arriving at the location, security personnel reportedly apprehended two minors identified as Ahmed Masa’udu, 10, and Ibrahim Manu, 9, both said to be from Tafawa.

The children were allegedly found grazing cattle within areas designated as restricted, prompting their arrest by the troops.

Security sources disclosed that the leadership of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria in Riyom Local Government Area has been contacted to help identify and trace the guardians or custodians of the minors for appropriate action.

Military authorities said the case is being handled in accordance with established procedures, while investigations continue to determine those responsible for sending the children to the area.

Operation Enduring Peace stated that it remains committed to enforcing restrictions on illegal grazing and sustaining security patrols aimed at reducing tensions between farmers and herders in Plateau State.
