President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sworn in Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoCSF).
The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday, August 27, 2026.
President Tinubu administered the oath of office to Enitan barely a week after announcing his appointment as the successor to Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack.
The Presidency announced Enitan’s appointment on August 19, 2026, with his tenure as Head of the Civil Service officially commencing on August 27.
Ahead of the transition, Enitan and his predecessor had visited President Tinubu at the State House on Friday, August 21, as part of preparations for the handover and assumption of office.
Enitan, an indigene of Osun State, was the most senior Permanent Secretary in the federal civil service at the time of his appointment.
He had served as a Permanent Secretary for seven years and seven months, with postings to the Ministry of Police Affairs, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and the Office of the Vice President.
Before his appointment as Head of the Civil Service, Enitan served as the Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Education.
With his assumption of office, Enitan takes charge of the federal civil service at a time when the Tinubu administration is pursuing reforms aimed at strengthening efficiency, professionalism and service delivery across government institutions.
President Tinubu has tasked the new Head of Service with consolidating ongoing reforms and innovations while deepening professionalism, efficiency and effectiveness within the federal civil service.
