Three people have reportedly been killed in a fresh attack around the Kyakyau-Gyambwas boundary in Manhunt Halle District of Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, despite the dusk-to-dawn curfew imposed by the state government.
The incident was reported amid renewed security concerns in parts of Plateau, particularly Barkin Ladi, Bokkos and Mangu LGAs, where the state government imposed the curfew following a series of attacks.
According to reports, the three victims were killed by gunmen around the Kyakyau-Gyambwas area.
The fresh attack has raised further concerns over the effectiveness of the curfew in preventing armed attacks, with residents continuing to call for stronger security presence and faster responses to distress calls.
The Plateau State Government had directed security agencies to enforce the curfew, which restricts movement between 6pm and 6am in the affected local government areas.
The latest incident came as other attacks were reported in the state. In Barkin Ladi, gunmen reportedly ambushed security personnel attached to Operation Rainbow, killing the deputy commander, Chief Superintendent of Police Dennis David Babale. Three civilians were also reportedly killed in a separate attack in the area.
The renewed violence has intensified calls for increased security operations, improved intelligence gathering and stronger protection for vulnerable communities across Plateau State.
