A girl who vanished from a small town in Arizona has been found alive more than three decades after her disappearance.

Christina Marie Plante was reported missing from Star Valley in May 1994 when she was just 13 years old. She was last seen leaving her home to walk to a stable where her horse was kept before disappearing without a trace.

Authorities classified her case as involving “endangered and suspicious circumstances,” prompting an extensive search effort. Volunteers and law enforcement officers combed the area, but despite exhaustive ground searches, interviews, and investigations, no significant leads emerged.

Missing person posters were circulated across the state and beyond, describing her as wearing a white T-shirt, multicoloured shorts, and black tennis shoes at the time she went missing. Her details were also entered into national missing persons databases, but the case eventually went cold.

Despite this, investigators continued to review the case periodically. It was later reassigned to the Gila County Sheriff’s Office Cold Case Unit, established to renew efforts on unresolved investigations.

Using modern technology and updated investigative methods, detectives were able to develop new leads that led to a breakthrough.

This week, authorities confirmed that Christina has been found alive, officially resolving her missing person case after 32 years.

The sheriff’s office stated that, out of respect for her privacy and well-being, no further details will be released at this time. Officials also reiterated their commitment to solving other cold cases and encouraged anyone with relevant information to come forward.
