Tanzania’s national football team, the Taifa Stars, are scheduled to arrive in Uyo on Sunday ahead of their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying encounter against Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
The early arrival is expected to give head coach Miguel Gamondi and his technical crew sufficient time to acclimatise to the environment and prepare the team for the crucial encounter.
Gamondi has invited 24 players for the double-header against Nigeria, comprising 12 home-based players and 12 foreign-based professionals.

The first leg of the encounter will take place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Friday, November 13, 2026.
Both teams will meet again four days later, on November 17, for the return leg in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The two matches are important to both sides as they continue their campaigns in the race for qualification for the 2027 AFCON tournament.
