Super Falcons goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, has described her nomination for the 2025 Women’s Ballon d’Or as nothing short of a miracle.
The 24-year-old shot stopper made history as the first African goalkeeper to be nominated for the prestigious award, following stellar performances for her former club, Paris FC, and the Nigerian national team.
Nnadozie played a key role in Paris FC’s triumph at the Coupe de France Féminine before leaving the club in May. She also starred for Nigeria at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where the Super Falcons clinched a record-extending 10th title. Her outstanding displays earned her the tournament’s Best Goalkeeper award.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Nnadozie reflected on her journey and recognition:
“It is a miracle for me. It shows that all the hard work, dedication and everything I’ve been doing in the past has been worth it,” she said.
Nnadozie, who began her career with Rivers Angels, continues to shine as one of Africa’s brightest football talents, with her Ballon d’Or nomination seen as a major milestone for women’s football on the continent.
