Dickson Chollom, member of the Plateau State House of Assembly representing Barkin Ladi Constituency, has rejected the use of the term “unknown gunmen” in describing recent attacks, asserting that the perpetrators are now identified.
Chollom, who also chairs the House Committee on Works and Transport, made the statement during a sympathy and fact-finding visit to Heipang District, following an attack that left three people dead and one critically injured.
He disclosed that one suspect has been arrested and made confessional statements identifying his accomplices. “We will no longer accept the term ‘unknown gunmen’. One of the perpetrators has been arrested and he has made confessions about those who joined him in carrying out this heinous attack,” Chollom said.
The lawmaker emphasised that the matter should not be treated as routine, stressing that residents of Barkin Ladi and Plateau State deserve transparency and justice. He called on security agencies to publicly release the confessions and investigative findings, including the identities and detention locations of suspects, to assure the public that justice is being pursued.
