Prominent Nigerians, including Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Atiku Abubakar, Rauf Aregbesola, Dino Melaye and Aisha Yesufu, have joined a protest tagged “Save Democracy” at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Abuja.

Protesters gathered at the commission’s office wearing branded T-shirts with the inscription “Operation Save Our Democracy,” while others carried red and white placards bearing messages such as “INEC Chairman Amupitan must go.”

The demonstration comes days after INEC announced it would no longer recognise the leadership of the African Democratic Congress faction led by David Mark, a move that has sparked political tension and public outcry.

Participants in the protest are calling for accountability and reforms within the electoral body, as concerns continue to mount over its handling of internal party disputes and broader electoral processes.

A video from the protest shows a large turnout, with demonstrators chanting and holding placards as they demand action.
