Veteran Nigerian Juju musician, Oluwashina Akanbi Peters, popularly known as Sir Shina Peters, has opened up about his early life and career, revealing that he became a father at just 14 years old.
Speaking on a recent episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, the 67-year-old Afrojuju legend shared that his journey in music began at the age of 10 and that he achieved success quite early.
“I started my career at the age of 10. I had my first child at 14. I bought my first car at 13. I built my first house at 16,” he said.
Sir Shina Peters, however, dismissed the possibility of returning to the studio, explaining that the current music environment is no longer suitable for him.
He also highlighted the diversity of his fan base, noting that a large portion of his supporters are from the southeastern region.
“Sixty-five percent of my fans are Igbos, not Yorubas,” he stated. “My fans are demanding that I give them new music, but I don’t just go to the studio. I can’t go to the studio; the atmosphere is not conducive for me. I don’t know what to sing.”
