Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Lungi, Sierra Leone, to participate in the 69th Ordinary Summit of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Authority of Heads of State and Government.
Shettima was received on arrival at the Sierra Leone International Airport in Lungi by Sierra Leone’s Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Jalloh.
Also on hand to welcome the Vice President were Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu; the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye; the Nigerian High Commissioner to Sierra Leone, Ambassador Ayo Luther-Ogbomode; the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo; and Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to ECOWAS, Ambassador Olawale Awe.
The summit brings together Heads of State and Government, senior government officials, diplomats and development partners from across the West African sub-region to deliberate on issues affecting the region.
Key areas on the agenda include regional peace and security, economic integration, democratic governance and sustainable development among ECOWAS member states.
Nigeria’s participation at the summit underscores its continued commitment to regional diplomacy and its efforts to strengthen cooperation, stability and economic development within the ECOWAS bloc.
