Colombian superstar Shakira and Nigerian Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy delivered a vibrant performance at the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Thursday, June 11, thrilling fans with their collaborative track “Dai Dai”.

The event, held ahead of the tournament kick-off, featured Shakira opening the show after J Balvin before launching into the official World Cup anthem, energising the crowd with her signature dance routines.

Burna Boy later joined her on stage, with both artists performing to an excited global audience. The duo delivered a high-energy rendition of the Afrobeats-inspired song while performing on a massive turquoise and yellow flag stretched across the pitch bearing the message: “We are ready.”

The track, “Dai Dai,” serves as the official FIFA World Cup 2026 song and is also linked to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, aimed at expanding access to education globally.

The performance concluded with both artists leading the crowd in the closing chant, “Dale, allez, let’s go,” marking one of the standout moments of the ceremony and setting an upbeat tone for the tournament.
