The Nigerian Senate has directed the lawmaker representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, not to resume duties as her six-month suspension nears its end.

In a letter dated September 4, 2025, and signed by the Acting Clerk to the National Assembly, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, the Senate acknowledged Akpoti-Uduaghan’s notice of intention to return on September 4, which she said marked the expiration of her suspension.

However, the Senate stated that her suspension remains in force pending the determination of a case she instituted at the Court of Appeal challenging the action.

“The matter remains sub judice, and until the judicial process is concluded, no administrative action can be taken to facilitate your resumption,” the letter read in part.

The Senate added that a review of her suspension would only be considered after the court delivers its judgment.
