Russian Strike on Bus Stop in Ukraine Kills at Least 33, Injures 18

At least 33 people have been killed and 18 others injured following a Russian strike on two passenger buses in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk.

The attack occurred on Thursday, October 8, 2026, on a street where two public buses were operating. The projectiles reportedly set the buses ablaze, leaving a devastating scene of destruction.

Ukrainian authorities described the incident as a targeted attack on civilians in a key city near the frontline. Donetsk regional governor Vadym Filashkin condemned the strike, alleging that Russian forces deliberately targeted passengers to cause mass casualties.

President Volodymyr Zelensky also condemned the attack, warning that the assault would not go unanswered. He said medical personnel were working to save the lives of those injured, raising concerns that the death toll could increase.

The bombing came a day after another wave of Russian strikes across Ukraine killed dozens of people, including children, and damaged residential buildings and infrastructure.

Russia has continued its full-scale invasion of Ukraine since February 2022. Moscow has repeatedly denied deliberately targeting civilians, despite numerous reports of civilian casualties from attacks across the country.
