Royal Family Doctor Dies During Children’s Sleepover as Husband Faces Murder Charge

A doctor who was reportedly part of a medical team that treated members of the British royal family has died at her home near the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, with her husband charged with her murder.

Dr Hannah Cain, 45, who was professionally known as Dr Hannah Terry, was found unresponsive in an upstairs bedroom at her home in Dersingham in the early hours of Sunday, October 4.

According to prosecutors, ambulance services contacted police at about 2:25 a.m. after receiving a call concerning an incident at the property. Dr Cain was subsequently found “not breathing, not conscious.” Children were reportedly present at the property at the time, as she had been hosting a sleepover for her children and their friends.

A post-mortem examination found a blunt-force injury to the right side of her head and an injury that could be suggestive of compression of the neck, the court was told.

Her husband, 45-year-old Mark Cain, was arrested and later charged with her murder. He appeared before Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, October 7, where he confirmed his name, address and date of birth but was not required to enter a plea. He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at King’s Lynn Crown Court.

Dr Cain worked at Grimston Medical Centre and was reportedly among a pool of doctors regularly on call for members of the royal family. Reports also state that she had treated senior royals, including Queen Camilla, when they were staying at Sandringham. King Charles and Queen Camilla have reportedly been informed of her death.

Her family described her as “kind, generous and loving” and said they were devastated by her death. They also praised her dedication to her patients and asked the public to respect their privacy as they mourn her loss.

Norfolk Police said the investigation remains ongoing, with specialist officers supporting Dr Cain’s family. No motive has been publicly established at this stage.
