The Rivers State House of Assembly has announced plans to issue impeachment notices to Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his Deputy, Ngozi Nma Odu, within the next seven days.
The development follows the commencement of Fubara’s impeachment process on Thursday, during an emergency plenary session.
During the session, Major Jack, the Majority Leader of the House, formally read the gross misconduct charges against both the Governor and his Deputy. The motion for impeachment was supported by 26 lawmakers.
Speaker Martins Amaewhule confirmed that the notices of gross misconduct will be served to Governor Fubara and Deputy Odu within the stipulated seven-day period.
