The new office, located at Mai Adiko, Rayfield, Jos, will serve as a hub for the cooperative’s activities, providing women with access to savings, cooperative loans, skills acquisition, mentorship and business support services.

Speaking at the launch, WINWO President, Hon. Esther Pam Hwere, said the cooperative was established to create opportunities for women to improve their economic wellbeing through collective action.

“We started as a vision to economically empower women. Now today, we have become a family and we have built a home where women will learn, earn, grow and cooperate,” Hwere said.

She explained that WINWO was established in alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with emphasis on helping women overcome poverty through savings, access to credit, skills development and entrepreneurship.

According to her, the new office will provide empowerment training, mentorship, business advisory services, savings schemes and cooperative loans, while supporting small and medium-scale businesses owned by women.

Hwere also disclosed that the office would serve as a mobilisation platform for grassroots political engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections.

She urged members to take advantage of the cooperative to build wealth, strengthen their businesses and contribute to the development of their communities and the country.

Flagging off the head office on behalf of the Plateau State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the party’s Publicity Secretary, Hon. Wumanna Bako Manabe, commended WINWO for creating a platform aimed at empowering and mobilising women at the grassroots.

Manabe assured the cooperative of the party’s support and said efforts were underway to strengthen collaboration between the APC and support groups ahead of the 2027 elections.

He urged WINWO to expand its membership and deliberately reach more women at the grassroots.

“Women form a large percentage of the votes, and women are the most patient voters. Encourage them to support what the President is doing for Nigeria and what he is doing for Plateau,” he said.

The APC spokesman also highlighted Plateau State’s growing role in national politics, citing the emergence of Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda as National Chairman of the APC and ongoing federal road projects in the state.

He urged members of the cooperative to remain committed to the APC as the party works towards consolidating its presence in Plateau ahead of the 2027 elections.
