Real Madrid have reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Chelsea for the transfer of Spanish defender Marc Cucurella in a deal worth up to £52 million (€60 million).
According to reports, the agreement includes an initial fee of approximately £47.4 million (€55 million), with a further £4.3 million (€5 million) in performance-related add-ons.
Cucurella, 27, is said to have been open to a move away from Stamford Bridge despite signing improved terms with Chelsea last summer. The defender reportedly considered a return to Spain after the London club failed to secure European football following a disappointing Premier League campaign.
The Spain international joined Chelsea from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2022 and has since made 163 appearances for the club across all competitions.
A product of Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, Cucurella has previously been linked with both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, but Real Madrid now appear to have won the race for his signature.
The left-back was also a member of the Spain squad that won UEFA Euro 2024 and is expected to remain a key part of the national team heading into the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
With three years remaining on his Chelsea contract, the club is understood to have accepted the offer as part of its ongoing squad restructuring plans.
If completed, the transfer would add further experience and depth to Real Madrid’s defensive options ahead of the new season.
