Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, have reunited with their grandfather, King Charles III, for the first time in four years.

Buckingham Palace confirmed that King Charles and Queen Camilla hosted the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and their two children at Highgrove House, the King’s private country residence in Gloucestershire, on Friday, July 10.

No official photographs of the family gathering are expected to be released.

The reunion marks the first time King Charles has seen Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, since 2022, when they attended celebrations marking Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee.

The visit came after months of uncertainty over whether Meghan and the children would travel to the United Kingdom due to ongoing security concerns. Earlier reports suggested the family had shelved plans to visit after being denied taxpayer-funded security.

According to previous media reports, Prince Harry had explored various options to ensure the safety of his wife and children during any visit to the UK.

Harry initially travelled to Britain alone earlier in the week, where he promoted several charitable initiatives and launched the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham.

However, Meghan, Archie and Lilibet later joined him in England, allowing the long-awaited family reunion with the King to take place.

Although the Sussex family is not expected to make any public appearances together during the visit, reports indicate they hope to visit the burial site of Princess Diana at Althorp Estate in Northamptonshire.

Prince Harry lost his publicly funded security protection in the UK after he and Meghan stepped back from their roles as senior members of the Royal Family in 2020.
