Three people, including a pregnant woman and a nursing mother, have reportedly died after being struck by lightning during a thunderstorm in Gambiri village, Bauchi State.
The incident occurred on Monday at about 5:29 p.m. when lightning reportedly struck the room where the victims were staying.
The deceased were identified as Hauwa Juli, her seven-day-old daughter Fatima, and Habiba, Hauwa’s sibling who was pregnant at the time of the incident.
According to a resident, the victims were buried the following morning in accordance with local customs.
The newborn baby who was also in the room at the time of the incident reportedly survived.
The tragedy has left residents of Gambiri village deeply shocked and saddened.
Economic and social activities in the community were reportedly disrupted as residents gathered to mourn the victims and sympathise with their family.
