A pregnant woman who was reportedly banished from Ugbema community in Buruku Local Government Area of Benue State has given birth to a baby girl.
The woman was said to have been sent away from the community on allegations of theft.
According to Benue media personality, Zege Orkwande, the woman was left stranded after being expelled from the community on Saturday night, October 11, 2025.
Fortunately, a truck driver offered her a lift and dropped her off in Ameladu, near Gboko Town, where she went into labour that same night and delivered her baby safely inside an uncompleted building.
Orkwande disclosed that his team later found the woman on Sunday night and provided her with immediate assistance.
He added that some well-meaning Nigerians have so far donated a total of ₦120,000 to support the mother and her newborn.
“We found her in an uncompleted building close to Gboko, where she had delivered her baby without help,” Orkwande said. “The public’s response has been touching — people have been donating to help her start over.”
