Political analyst Goldie Ghamari has accused Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, of making false claims regarding reports of Christian persecution in Nigeria.

Ghamari criticised the minister in a post on X following his appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored, where Tuggar denied allegations of widespread killings of Christians in the country — an issue that has generated renewed global debate.

Reposting Tuggar’s statement, Ghamari described the minister’s interview as “embarrassing,” alleging that he failed to answer Morgan’s questions and was caught “in several lies.” She added that while such conduct might go unchallenged in Nigeria, it would not withstand scrutiny in international media spaces where claims are rigorously interrogated.

She went further to label the minister “a liar and a genocide denier.”

Tuggar, in his original post, maintained that he provided a factual, data-backed explanation aimed at countering what he called “misleading narratives” about religious persecution in Nigeria. He argued that his responses did not align with preconceived expectations, which may have contributed to the backlash.

The minister also insisted that his full interview must be aired exactly as recorded, without edits or selective omissions, stressing that Nigeria’s position should not be distorted to fit external biases.
