The Adamawa State Police Command has intensified security across Yola and other strategic locations ahead of Vice President Kashim Shettima’s visit to the state.
The command deployed heavily armed personnel and operational assets, including officers from the Police Mobile Force, Counter-Terrorism Unit, Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Intelligence Unit and Traffic Unit.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Kabir Hassan, also ordered the deployment of Divisional Police Officers across the state to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free visit.
According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, traffic diversions and stop-and-search operations will be conducted in and around Yola during the visit.
Shettima is expected in Adamawa for a condolence visit to the family of the late former PDP National Chairman, Bamanga Tukur.
The police urged residents to cooperate with security personnel, remain vigilant and report suspicious persons or movements to the nearest police station.
The command also warned individuals with criminal intentions to stay away from venues associated with the Vice President’s visit, assuring residents of continued efforts to protect lives and property.
