The Lagos State Police Command has uncovered and sealed a suspected illegal factory allegedly used to produce and package adulterated alcoholic drinks in the Badagry area of the state.
A 48-year-old man, identified as Anaebo Emeka Hilary, was arrested during the operation at Yafin, Badagry.
The police said the operation followed credible information provided by members of the public, which led operatives to the suspected production facility.
According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, officers recovered suspected adulterated alcoholic drinks, empty bottles, different wine labels and various production utensils allegedly used in making and packaging the products.
The facility was subsequently sealed, while Hilary was taken into police custody. The recovered items were also moved to the police station as investigations continue.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the officers involved in the operation for acting on the information and uncovering the suspected illegal facility.
Fatai urged residents to continue providing credible information that could assist security agencies in detecting and preventing criminal activities across the state.
The police said the investigation into the suspected factory and the activities linked to it is ongoing.
