The Plateau State Police Command has arrested several suspects in connection with alleged sexual offences, possession of firearms and suspected hard drugs across different parts of the state.
In the first case, police said a 22-year-old man identified as Adam Mohammed, of Mangor in Bokkos Local Government Area, was arrested over an alleged rape incident involving a 23-year-old woman.
According to the police, the incident occurred on August 12, 2026, while the victim was working on a farm with her granddaughter. The suspect allegedly attacked them with a stick before sexually assaulting the 23-year-old woman.

Police said the suspect was arrested after the report was received, while the victim was taken to a hospital for medical examination.
The suspect remains in police custody as investigation continues, with the command saying the case would be taken to court upon completion of the investigation.
In a separate case, police arrested Saleh Abdullahi, 35, over an allegation of defilement involving an 11-year-old girl.

The police said the girl’s relative became concerned after noticing that she was walking abnormally and experiencing difficulty while urinating.
According to the victim’s account, she was sent on an errand to grind maize at the suspect’s residence on August 19, where she alleged that Abdullahi lured her into a room and sexually assaulted her.
The girl further alleged that the suspect threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incident.
Police said the minor was taken to hospital for medical examination, while the suspect was arrested and placed under investigation. He is expected to be charged to court after the investigation is concluded.
Another defilement case involved a nine-year-old girl who allegedly identified her school proprietor, Ahmed Bello, 40, as the person who sexually assaulted her.
According to the police, the girl’s mother reported the incident on August 22 after the child allegedly disclosed what happened.
The minor reportedly alleged that the school proprietor called her into his office while she was returning to class after receiving medication from the school’s first aid office and sexually assaulted her.
Police said the suspect was arrested, while the victim was taken to hospital for medical examination. Investigation into the case is ongoing, after which the suspect will be charged to court.
Meanwhile, police tactical operatives stationed in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area recovered a locally made rifle and ammunition during a patrol operation.
The command said the incident occurred at about 4:10am on August 31 when officers encountered suspected illegal miners.
According to the police, the suspects fled into the surrounding bushes after the tactical team engaged them.
Items recovered from the scene included one locally made rifle, nine rounds of live 7.62mm ammunition, three shovels, one bucket and clothing materials.
Police said efforts were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
In another operation, four men were arrested during an intelligence-led raid in Angwan Rogo over alleged possession of suspected hard drugs.
The suspects were identified as Muhammad Rabiu, 39; Musa Aliyu, 22; Faisal Idris, 20; and Usman Ibrahim, 20.
Police said large quantities of dry leaves suspected to be cannabis and other substances suspected to be hard drugs were recovered from the suspects.
The command said investigation into the case had reached an advanced stage, while efforts were ongoing to arrest other members of the alleged group.
The police said all suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
