An 87-year-old woman has been found dead with injuries suspected to have been caused by a machete inside the Wildlife Park Forest Reserve in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The woman, identified by security sources as Mrs Kande Bulus, was reportedly found near a stream within the forest reserve after her family raised the alarm over her disappearance.
According to the reports, the incident was discovered on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, after security operatives responded to a distress report at about 9:30am.
Preliminary information indicated that the deceased had left her family residence in Dong Kassa, Jos North, and went towards the Wildlife Park Forest Reserve but did not return home.
Concerned family members subsequently launched a search for her, which led to the discovery of her body near a stream inside the forest.
The woman was reportedly found with injuries on her face and arm that appeared consistent with machete cuts.
A staff member of the park, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to comment on the incident, said workers alerted security operatives immediately after the body was discovered.
Security personnel reportedly visited the scene and commenced an initial assessment as efforts began to determine the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
Security authorities have since commenced an investigation to establish what happened and determine whether criminal elements were involved.
However, as of the time of reporting, the Plateau State Police Command had not issued an official statement confirming the identity of the deceased or providing details on the circumstances of her death.
The investigation is expected to establish how the woman died and whether anyone was responsible for the injuries found on her body.
