Police Arrest 27 Suspects in Intelligence-Led Raid Across Plateau Flashpoints

The Plateau State Police Command has arrested 27 suspects during an intelligence-led raid targeting criminal flashpoints across the state.

Police spokesperson SP Alfred Alabo confirmed that the operation, carried out late on February 24, 2026, was aimed at restoring normalcy and preventing criminal elements from exploiting the current security situation to incite unrest.

According to the statement, the suspects were apprehended at about 11:05 p.m. in Alheri, Apata, Busa-Buji, and Angwan Suya areas. Officers also recovered substances suspected to be Indian hemp from the suspects during the operation.

The Commissioner of Police, Bassey Ewah, said the raid forms part of ongoing proactive security measures to maintain law and order across Plateau State. He warned individuals or groups planning to foment trouble to abandon such plans, stressing that the police will take decisive action against offenders.

Police authorities disclosed that profiling of the suspects is ongoing, while further investigations will determine their involvement in criminal activities and ensure those culpable are prosecuted.

The command added that operational and intelligence assets have been deployed to strategic locations to strengthen security presence and reassure residents.

Residents were urged to support security efforts by providing timely and credible information to law enforcement agencies.

Police reiterated their public safety appeal: “See something, say something.”
