Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP) have rescued a kidnap victim following an abduction incident in the Mista Ali area of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident occurred at about midnight on Sunday, August 9, 2026, when troops of Sector 1, OPEP, responded to a distress report concerning the abduction of Mr Boyi Sauka and his son, Mantum Sauka.
According to sources, the troops immediately launched a search-and-rescue operation after receiving the report.
During the operation, the troops located and rescued Boyi Sauka, who had sustained injuries during the incident.
He was subsequently evacuated to AG Hospital, Mista Ali, where he was admitted for medical attention.
However, his son, Mantum Sauka, remains in the custody of the kidnappers.
Security forces have intensified search operations in the surrounding areas as efforts continue to locate and rescue the young man.
Troops are also working to identify and apprehend those responsible for the abduction.
