A chieftain of the Young Progressives Party, Hon. Eva Tsenyen Katyen, has formally declared his intention to contest for a seat in the Plateau State House of Assembly to represent Qua’an Pan South Constituency in the 2027 general elections.
Katyen, also known as “Evergreen,” made the declaration following what he described as extensive consultations with community stakeholders, including traditional rulers, elders, youths, women, and leaders across the constituency.
He said his decision was driven by growing calls from constituents for purposeful, compassionate, and accountable leadership, adding that he is committed to offering effective legislative representation if elected.
“I understand the responsibility placed upon our generation to provide practical solutions that improve everyday life,” he said.
The aspirant outlined his priorities to include responsible lawmaking, effective oversight, and strong advocacy for policies and budgetary provisions that would drive development in Qua’an Pan South.
Katyen highlighted his experience as a former Senior Special Assistant to Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, noting that his role in the Office of the Chief of Staff provided him with valuable exposure to governance and policy coordination.
He also cited his academic experience at SOAS University of London and engagement with policy discussions at Chatham House as part of his preparation for public service.
Addressing key challenges in the constituency, Katyen identified access to clean water, rural infrastructure deficits, and limited economic opportunities as critical areas requiring urgent attention. He pledged to advocate for sustainable water supply systems, enhanced support for farmers, and inclusive economic policies that would benefit artisans, traders, and young people.
The aspirant also pointed to his humanitarian work through the Kindness to Life Beyond Borders Foundation, stating that he intends to expand such interventions through legislative backing if elected.
Katyen called on fellow aspirants and supporters to maintain peace and civility throughout the political process, stressing that leadership should be viewed as a responsibility to serve rather than a personal entitlement.
He appealed to constituents for support and prayers as he seeks to represent them at the state assembly, expressing optimism about restoring hope, dignity, and development in Qua’an Pan South Constituency.
