Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong has been named the “Good Shepherd Governor of the year twenty eighteen”.
Governor Lalong received the award from the Good Shepherd Newspaper of the Catholic Arch Diocese of Abuja at the international conference Centre, Abuja.
The Governor called on the church never to shy away from telling public office holders the truth. He said politicians are first and foremost member of the church or other religious groups.
Governor Lalong maintained that he is not ashame of his faith and the denomination that nurtured him into a responsible citizen of Nigeria which explains his willingness to identify with programmes of the church at all times.
Lalong stressed that the catholic church had particularly made notable contributions in the advancement of education in Northern Nigeria, adding that he has resolved to continue supporting all humanitarian efforts of the church for the common good of the society.
The Governor disclosed that his alma mater RCM Primary School Shendam would soon celebrate its one hundredth year anniversary, and that old students of the school should be prepared to show appreciation for the value the institution has added to their lives.
Director of Communications of the Good Shepherd Newspaper of the Abuja Catholic Arch Diocese Very Reverend Father Patrick Akumuku said they are proud of Governor Lalong’s performance in office.
Father Akumuku said as a Governor with Catholic roots, Lalong has strongly held his faith in the exalted office he occupies.
