The governor gave the charge on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, during the swearing-in ceremony of the appointees at Victoria Gowon Hall, New Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos, stressing that their appointments must translate into improved service delivery and tangible benefits for residents.

Mutfwang said public office was a responsibility that required integrity, accountability, discipline and commitment to the collective interest of the state, rather than a privilege to be enjoyed.

He explained that the appointments were intended to strengthen government operations, improve policy formulation and implementation, broaden consultation and bring additional expertise into the administration.

The governor urged the appointees to provide timely, evidence-based advice and develop workable recommendations capable of addressing emerging challenges, warning against personal interests, internal rivalries and actions that could undermine the administration’s objectives.

The governor’s charge comes amid continuing security concerns in Plateau State, including a fresh attack in Gyero village, Jos South Local Government Area, which he described as troubling despite ongoing government efforts to protect lives and property.

He called on residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing credible and timely information, including early warning signals, to enable security personnel to respond swiftly and prevent further attacks.

Mutfwang also highlighted the reinvigoration of Operation Rainbow, community-based security initiatives and the training of approximately 1,500 personnel as part of efforts to strengthen the state’s security architecture.

However, his remarks underscored the need for sustained efforts to translate security investments into improved protection for communities affected by violence.

Beyond security, the governor identified healthcare, education, agriculture, energy, water supply, sanitation, transportation and road infrastructure as key areas of his administration’s development agenda.

He said the interventions were aimed at improving living conditions, particularly in rural and underserved communities, while urging the new appointees to ensure that government policies respond to the needs of ordinary citizens.

Mutfwang specifically called for greater attention to women, young people, farmers, entrepreneurs and vulnerable populations, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to rebuilding affected communities, strengthening peace and expanding development opportunities.

He urged the appointees to remain accessible to the public and demonstrate professionalism in carrying out their responsibilities.

Speaking on behalf of the appointees, Chairman of the Plateau State House of Assembly Service Commission, Rt. Hon. Titus Alams, thanked the governor for the confidence reposed in them and pledged that they would not take the opportunity to serve for granted.

Alams acknowledged the responsibility attached to their appointments, noting that their contributions would form part of the legacy of the administration.

The governor reiterated that the time had come to strengthen public institutions, deepen the commitment to peace and accelerate development across Plateau State, urging the appointees to turn the administration’s vision into visible progress for the people.
