Plateau Extends 11th Jos National Trade Fair by Two Days

The Plateau State Government has extended the 11th Jos National Trade Fair by two days, from October 31 to November 2, 2026, to enable more residents and business owners to benefit from the commercial opportunities at the event.

The Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Plateau State, Hon. Ibrahim Musa Ashoms, announced the extension during a press briefing, attributing the decision to the public’s interest in commerce, industry, agriculture and livestock, which form the focus of this year’s fair.

The trade fair, organised by the Plateau Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PLACCIMA), is holding at the Jos Polo Field under the theme, “Harnessing Agricultural and Livestock Value Chains for Food Security, Job Creation and Shared Prosperity.”

Ashoms called on residents, entrepreneurs and investors to participate actively in the fair, describing it as an opportunity to expand business horizons, discover innovations and explore new investment opportunities across different sectors of the economy.

He noted that the event had attracted exhibitors from across Nigeria and expressed appreciation to the exhibitors, PLACCIMA, the Plateau State Government and the media for their contributions to its success.

The commissioner also highlighted the agricultural and livestock sector as a major area of opportunity, pointing to the state government’s planned ultra-modern abattoir around Haipang as an initiative expected to strengthen the livestock value chain and create opportunities for businesses and investors.

According to him, developments in the sector could open up new opportunities for livestock producers, traders, processors and other businesses involved in the agricultural value chain.

Addressing concerns about insecurity in the state, Ashoms assured prospective visitors and exhibitors that adequate attention had been given to security arrangements for the trade fair.

He maintained that the government was working with security agencies to sustain peace and protect lives and property, while urging people not to allow negative perceptions about the state to discourage them from participating in business activities.

“Plateau is open to business, Plateau is business-minded, and we have a governor who is ready to help Plateau businesses boom,” he said, urging residents and investors to take advantage of the opportunities available at the fair.

The 11th Jos National Trade Fair commenced on October 17, 2026, and was initially scheduled to end on October 31. With the extension, organisers hope to attract more visitors and exhibitors, stimulate commercial activities and promote investment in Plateau State.
