The Executive Chairman of Langtang South Local Government Council of Plateau state Hon  Prince Vincent Venmam, has refuted the allegations that he slapped the former chairman of Langtang North Council, Hon Joshua Ubandoma but rather sent him away for trying to make trouble and wanting to turn a cultural fundraising ‘Resettlement Day’ to his party rally.

Hon Vincent Venmam explained the scenario to Journalists during a press conference held at his residence in Jos, the Plateau state capital on Tuesday in which he exonerated himself from claims circulating the media that, he slapped and chased away Mr Ubandoma from a public function held in Langtang South LGA last Saturday.

He said that he only took positive steps to manage a situation that was set to disrupt the celebration given the manner in which the former chairman of Langtang North Council, Hon Joshua Ubandoma arrived at the venue.

“As the chief security officer of Langtang South Local government Council, I will not ask my people to do anything to disrupt an event I organized and I am a peacemaker, I love peace but I will not be happy with anyone who wants trouble,” He said

Further narrating the incident, Hon Venmam said , “The Remembrance Day has been holding in the last 74 years, I am a Chairman of the local government area. I was at the venue very early to receive people. After then, the former chairman of Langtang North came and he was asked to sit with the people but he refused and wanted to sit where he was not asked to sit.

“He went and collected the microphone and started saying PDP, as if he came for a rally and I said, you can’t do this here because it’s a cultural occasion, I sent him out of the podium. They started throwing stones, sand and bottles, we later got the situation under control and the event was a success because after they left, we continued with the fundraising.

“We wanted N10.5m, we got almost N28m that day after they left. I will not ask my people to do what is not good, I am a man of peace.” He explained that the day was a success despite the initial challenge as the situation was handled and funds raised beyond the expected figure.

According to him, he stopped the Langtang North Council chairman from signing praises of the opposition political party “the People’s Democratic Party PDP” during a fundraising occasion toward resettling Internally Displaced Persons.

Recalled that the media was agog with reports over the weekend that Hon Venmark allegedly slapped the former chairman of Langtang North counterpart Joshua Ubandoma at the event held at Sabon Gida, Langtang south over a sitting arrangement and the altercation led to the disruption of the event.

However, the Langtang South Council boss, Hon Venmark debunked the claim that he desecrated the revered Resettlement Day celebration held last Saturday in his local government area saying, he only took positive steps to manage a situation and that his supporters did not humiliate anyone.
