Plateau State’s political scene is witnessing a notable realignment as key government officials continue to follow the political trajectory set by Governor Caleb Mutfwang.
In a significant development, Engineer Dominic Datong Gwaman, Director General of the Plateau State Information and Communication Technology Development Agency (PICTDA), formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) at Namu Ward, Quanpan Local Government Area.
The move comes in the wake of Governor Mutfwang’s defection to the APC and reflects Mr. Datong’s commitment to aligning with the state’s leadership and its governance agenda. Political observers note that the decision also underscores growing uncertainties about the PDP’s ability to effectively sponsor candidates in the 2027 general elections.
Mr. Datong began the process by submitting his resignation to the PDP Ward Executive, expressing appreciation for the opportunities to serve under the party and wishing it success in the future. He was then welcomed by the APC Ward Executive Committee in Namu Ward, completed all clearance procedures, and was officially registered as a member of the party.
In his address to APC officials, Mr. Datong pledged his full support to the party’s ideals, vowing to contribute to its growth, consolidation, and grassroots mobilization.
The orderly and transparent process highlights adherence to due process and institutional discipline. Analysts see this development as part of a broader trend of political realignment in Plateau State, as leaders and stakeholders strategically position themselves ahead of future elections.
