Concerned PDP Members (CPM) of Plateau State submitted a formal complaint to Hon. Chris Hassan, the State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), raising serious allegations against Local Government Area (LGA) party executives.

The letter begins by congratulating His Excellency Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang and the state leadership on their recent electoral victories and expresses sympathy for those affected by recent events, including the tragic school building collapse in the state. However, CPM underscores the need to address significant concerns affecting party unity and governance at the local level.

The complaint outlines multiple grievances, notably the accusations of favoritism and neglect by certain LGA party executives. These executives are accused of prioritizing their personal agendas over the collective interests of party members, leading to widespread dissatisfaction among constituents.

A major point of contention is the alleged unequal distribution of palliatives, such as fertilizers and other gifts, provided by the state governor. CPM claims that these disparities are deepening divisions within the party. Additionally, the letter criticizes the dominating attitude of some LGA executives, which has reportedly alienated grassroots members and hindered cohesive party operations.

The Transition Implementation Committees of the 17 LGAs have been supportive of the party’s effective functioning at the local level. However, CPM alleges that LGA Party Chairmen and their Secretaries have misappropriated these supports for personal use, leaving ward and polling unit officials marginalized and without necessary resources.

Furthermore, the letter highlights a growing sentiment that LGA party leadership has failed to include all stakeholders in decision-making processes, resulting in disenchantment and eroded trust in their ability to represent the collective interests of party members.

In their appeal to the State Party Chairman, CPM calls for a swift and decisive intervention to address these allegations of injustice and favoritism. They emphasize the importance of upholding the principles of inclusivity, equity, and justice within the party. CPM also urges an investigation into the widespread calls for second terms from various LGAs, ensuring that such requests are fairly assessed and aligned with the party’s principles.

The letter which was signed by Arc. Machan Mukut, Chairman of CPM concluded with a plea for urgent action, expressing confidence in Hon. Chris Hassan’s leadership to resolve these issues fairly and promptly, thereby reinforcing the ideals and success of the PDP in Plateau State.
