Petrol prices have risen at several filling stations in Abuja and its environs, with MRS outlets increasing their pump price by ₦39 per litre, while Ranoil and AA Rano also adjusted their rates upward.
A market survey conducted on Monday, October 12, 2026, showed that MRS filling stations, backed by Dangote Petroleum Refinery, raised their petrol price from ₦1,370 to ₦1,409 per litre.
The new price has been implemented at MRS outlets in Kubwa, Katampe, Gwarimpa and other parts of the Federal Capital Territory.
Similarly, Ranoil and AA Rano increased their prices by ₦10 per litre, from ₦1,400 to ₦1,410.
The latest adjustments come amid rising global crude oil prices and renewed pressure on domestic fuel prices, which have continued to affect transportation costs and household spending.
The increases also come as the Federal Government pursues a temporary petrol price relief initiative through the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.). The company has extended its ₦66-per-litre discount at its retail outlets nationwide until October 31, 2026.
Under the arrangement, eligible customers who pay through the NNPC mobile application can access the discounted price. The initiative does not establish a uniform price across all filling stations.
Petroleum marketers have called on the Federal Government to extend the relief initiative to other filling stations, arguing that a wider arrangement could help more motorists benefit from the price reduction.
The latest price increases are expected to add to the financial burden on motorists, commercial transport operators and businesses that depend on petrol for daily operations.
