Petrol prices have risen to as high as ₦1,500 per litre in parts of Northern Nigeria, raising concerns over further increases in transportation and food costs.

Transport workers have warned that rising fuel costs could translate into higher fares as operators seek to cover increased operating expenses.
The development could also affect the prices of food and other essential commodities, as higher transportation costs increase the cost of moving goods from farms and markets to consumers.
