Peter Obi, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, has said he would withdraw from the 2027 presidential race if anyone can prove that he collected money from Nigerians in the United States to fund his campaign.
Obi made the statement during his ongoing visit to the United States, where he responded to allegations that his trip was aimed at raising funds from Nigerians in the diaspora.
He challenged anyone who claimed to have given him money during the visit to provide evidence, saying he would quit the presidential race if it could be established that he received even one dollar.
Obi also maintained that he was funding his activities with his personal resources and paying his expenses during his international engagements.
The former Anambra State governor said his travels were aimed at engaging with Nigerians and pursuing what he described as the right course for the country.
The statement comes amid growing political activity and disagreements among opposition figures and parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
