Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, has donated N15 million to Malikiya College of Nursing Sciences and Intisharu Taufizul Quranic School in Bauchi.
Obi, who visited the two institutions on Friday, gave N10 million to the nursing school and N5 million to the Quranic school.
Speaking at Malikiya College of Nursing Sciences, Obi praised nurses for their indispensable role in the nation’s health sector.
“You are very important to society and to Nigeria. If there is anything we can do to support what you are doing, we need to do it. The number one measure of a nation’s success is health, and you can’t measure health without human infrastructure. The nurse knows the patient, owns the patient, the nurse is everything,” he said.
Obi added that he has visited and supported about 70 nursing schools annually as part of his contribution to the health sector.
The proprietors of the schools, Aminu Danmaliki and Alhaji Usman Abubakar, thanked Obi for the gesture and pledged to utilise the funds judiciously for the development of their institutions.
