A gas tanker exploded on Wednesday evening at Karu Bridge along the Abuja-Nyanya-Keffi highway, sparking fears of multiple casualties and extensive damage.
Eyewitnesses reported that the tanker lost control while speeding, swerved dangerously, and crashed before erupting into flames. Several vehicles were caught in the inferno, with occupants feared trapped.
Emergency responders, including fire service personnel and medical teams, arrived at the scene to contain the blaze and assist victims. The explosion has also caused severe gridlock along the busy highway, leaving commuters stranded.
“I saw the tanker coming at high speed, swerving dangerously before it crashed. Within seconds, there was an explosion, and fire spread everywhere,” a survivor told Daily Post.
