The Osun State Police Command has assured residents of comprehensive security arrangements ahead of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebrations across the state.
This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday in Osogbo by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ojelabi Abiodun, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, who confirmed that adequate measures had been put in place to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free festive period.
According to the statement, the police command has deployed officers and operational assets to strategic locations across the state to safeguard lives and property during the celebrations.
It noted that security personnel have been stationed at entry and exit points, major highways, places of worship, recreational centres, parks and other critical public infrastructure.
The Commissioner of Police explained that the deployment is aimed at boosting public confidence, preventing criminal activities and ensuring safety before, during and after the Eid festivities.
Residents were urged to conduct themselves lawfully and peacefully throughout the Sallah period and to avoid actions that could disrupt public order.
The command also called on members of the public to cooperate with security operatives, adding that officers have been instructed to remain professional, courteous and respect citizens’ rights in the discharge of their duties.
It further encouraged residents to report any suspicious movements or emergencies through designated police hotlines or by visiting the nearest police station for prompt response.
