A faction within the broader Obidient political space has announced a significant shift in alignment as Hon. Ike Nazomchine, popularly known as the “Obidient General,” declared support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while unveiling a new grassroots mobilisation structure under the banner of “Team Obidient General Worldwide.”
The development came during the inauguration of the group’s sensitisation and voter education initiative, which organisers described as a platform for “political reorientation” and citizen engagement ahead of the 2027 election cycle.
Nazomchine, who said he played a foundational role in the activities of the broader Obidient Movement, argued that the movement should not be viewed as restricted to a single political direction or individual. According to him, members of the movement are spread across different political parties and should be engaged constructively within governance structures.
He said the new initiative is aimed at repositioning politically active youths toward policy engagement and collaboration with government, rather than opposition alone.
“The Obidient spirit is organic. We are in all political parties,” he said, adding that the group intends to channel ideas directly to the presidency through structured engagement.
Nazomchine further stated that the platform would focus on grassroots sensitisation, voter education, and development advocacy, particularly in areas affected by insecurity and infrastructure deficits in the North Central region.
He also emphasized the need for improved rural access, peacebuilding efforts, and stronger collaboration between citizens and government in addressing national challenges.
According to him, the initiative will begin by consolidating support groups across the North Central region before expanding into a wider national and diaspora network.
