The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced that the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream I Orientation Course will commence nationwide on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, across all 37 NYSC orientation camps.

The announcement was made in a statement posted on the scheme’s official X handle on Tuesday.

According to the statement, camp registration for prospective corps members will run from Wednesday, January 21, to midnight on Friday, January 23, 2026.

“The Swearing-in Ceremony holds on Friday, 23rd January, 2026, while the Closing Ceremony will take place on Tuesday, 10th February, 2026,” the statement added.

The Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, wished all prospective corps members safe journeys to their respective states of deployment and advised them to avoid travelling at night.

NYSC management also urged corps members to strictly adhere to the orientation schedule to ensure a smooth and successful programme.

The NYSC scheme, established in 1973 to promote national unity and integration after the Nigerian Civil War, mandates a three-week orientation course as the foundational phase of national service.

During the period, corps members undergo paramilitary drills, skills acquisition training under the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, lectures on national issues, and cultural activities aimed at fostering unity across ethnic and religious lines.
